7 nano… 10 nano… that’s the problem, Samsung Galaxy s9 specs, design rumors?
Autumn smartphone competition has not start yet, but the product information from the first half of next year is coming little by little. Even the confirmed information at the present time, may change a lot closer to the release date. It is information that can be well predicted enough rightnow, but let me put it together.
Project code : Star & Star2
The information released by the media on May 20 was the project name of Samsung Galaxy s9 Star and Star2, just like previous model Galaxy S8, Galaxy S9 has two form factors according to display size.
The AP, which is the core of the Galaxy s9 spec, is likely to adopt Qualcomm Snapdragon and Exynos same as the previous one. Although two chipsets have been designed in 10 nm process and have not shown big difference in performance, new APs may cause differences in body size, power, etc. due to 7 nm and 8 nm process differences. If the LG G7 is released after adopting the Snapdragon 845 chipset, it will be different from this year’s performance.
Snapdragon 835 and Exxon 8895 used in Galaxy S8 are produced by the same Samsung Semiconductor FAB. For the Qualcomm AP, which is currently using the 7-nanometer process, TSMC’s 7-nano process has been confirmed, and the Snapdragon 845 is really a chipset designed for 7 nm process.
The Samsung Galaxy s9 specs to date are: the 4K Infinity Display, Snapdragon 845 AP, 6GB RAM, up to 512GB internal memory, a 12-megapixel camera, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. Because there is a long development period ahead, it does not make much sense so far, as any part can be changed. However, if a 7-nanometer AP is used, 4K resolution can be expected, because this display can be used as much as power consumption would improve.
The s8 generation bezel glass display will be inherited. The biggest differense of the Samsung Galaxy s9 design is the more expanded Infiniti display. In s8 it filled 83% of the front with a display, but next year Galaxy s9 display would be packed full 93%. Expect s9 to have the fingerprint recognition sensor on the back.
Samsung Galaxy s9 release date will be announced at the Spanish MWC. The MWC, which is held every year in Spain, is the largest mobile show to meet first-tier strategic smartphones in one place with the Mobile World Congress. Since it is held at the end of February every year, I think that launch date of Galaxy s9 will be discovered within one month after the Galaxy s9 pre-release at MWC. There is a variable in Note 8, but Samsung can not miss MWC which can receive the attention of all the world at a glance.
The world’s largest event, Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, will be held in 2018, and the world telecom industry is also paying attention to the 5G pilot service. I am wondering if the Galaxy s9 will be the first flagship smartphone in the world to support 5G as the communication speed will be improved dramatically compared to 4G, which is represented by LTE. It is known that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, which is known through recent press releases, will be supporting the 1.2Gbps class LTE Cat.18 with 5G service.
